Recent Maryland Projects: Windows, Roofing, Siding & Exterior Transformations

Our crews have been busy across Maryland with projects ranging from whole-home window replacements to roofing, siding, gutters, and doors.

Camp Springs, MD: New ProVia Windows & Entry Door for a Repeat Customer

There's no better compliment than when a previous customer calls AHI again for another project.

For this repeat customer in Camp Springs, Maryland, our team replaced seven existing windows and the home's front entry door.

The new windows are ProVia Aspect double-hung vinyl windows in white with a clean, grid-free appearance. They feature double-pane ComforTech glass with Low-E and Argon gas, along with triple weather stripping and ProVia's warm-edge glazing system.

The windows also incorporate Innergy thermal reinforcements rather than traditional aluminum reinforcement. During installation, our crew used spray foam around the window openings to help create an airtight seal before completing the exteriors with aluminum capping and caulk for a watertight installation.

A New ProVia Legacy Entry Door

The home's entrance was also upgraded with a new ProVia Legacy 20-gauge steel entry door.

The new white, six-panel door includes a factory-installed brass mail slot, auto-adjusting threshold, Schlage locks, and coordinating brushed-brass hinges and hardware. New white clamshell trim completed the interior.

The ProVia windows and door are backed by applicable lifetime manufacturer coverage, while AHI's installation includes a 10-year labor warranty.

Dunkirk, MD: A Whole-Home ProVia Window Transformation

Our Dunkirk, Maryland project was one of the larger window replacements our team has completed recently.

The project included 23 double-hung windows, six picture windows, two slider windows, and a 5-foot ProVia Aspect sliding glass door.

The white ProVia Aspect windows feature cottage grids in select locations, while the picture windows and several other designated windows were kept grid-free for a cleaner, unobstructed view.

The windows and sliding door feature ComforTech DLA-UV-HC R-7 double-pane glass with Low-E and Argon gas, along with triple weather stripping, warm-edge glazing, Innergy thermal reinforcements, and double-strength glass. Tempered glass was used where required, including the sliding door and bathroom locations.

Our crew used spray foam around the openings for an airtight installation before completing the exteriors with white aluminum capping and watertight caulking.

But one of the biggest transformations happened in the kitchen.

Turning Two Bay Windows Into One Large Picture Window

Instead of simply replacing the existing kitchen windows, AHI enlarged and reframed the opening to accommodate a large picture window.

The center two bay windows were converted into one larger picture window. Our crew reframed the opening with 2x4s as needed and completed the necessary exterior siding-channel work.

The result became one of the homeowner's favorite parts of the entire project.

Millersville, MD: New TAMKO Titan Roof With 37 Solar Panels

Replacing a roof is already a substantial project. This Millersville, Maryland home added another layer of coordination: 37 existing solar panels.

Before the old roofing system could be removed, the solar panels had to be carefully removed so our crew could access the roof underneath.

Once the panels were out of the way, we removed the existing shingles down to the roof deck, inspected and secured the decking, and prepared the home for its new roofing system.

The homeowner selected TAMKO Titan architectural shingles in Oxford Gray.

Titan shingles feature a reinforced nailing zone and, when installed according to TAMKO requirements, offer wind warranty protection up to 160 MPH.

The roofing system also includes ice and water protection at vulnerable areas, ABC synthetic underlayment, TAMKO starter shingles, matching hip and ridge shingles, white drip edge, Lomanco ridge ventilation, and new pipe collars and chimney flashing.

After the roofing work was completed, the 37 solar panels were reinstalled.

Throughout the project, our crew used tarps to help protect the landscaping and covered the home's air-conditioning equipment during tear-off. Once everything was complete, we cleaned the gutters, removed job-related debris, and performed a magnetic sweep around the property for loose nails.

New Seamless Gutters & Downspouts

The exterior upgrade also included removing the existing gutter system and installing new 5-inch white seamless aluminum gutters with hidden screw hangers and larger 3x4 downspouts.

The roofing and gutter labor are backed by a 10-year AHI workmanship warranty, along with applicable TAMKO material warranty coverage.

We're also happy to say this Millersville homeowner left AHI another 5-star rating after the project.

Riva, MD: CertainTeed Siding, Board & Batten & New Gutters

Our final project takes us to Riva, Maryland, for a complete siding and gutter transformation.

The existing siding and gutters were removed from the entire home, allowing our crew to inspect the underlying exterior before installing the new siding system.

We started with Norandex house wrap, followed by new J-channel, sill trim, inside and outside corners, and aluminum starter.

The homeowner chose a combination of two CertainTeed siding styles to give the exterior more dimension.

White Board & Batten Meets Traditional Clapboard

The front of the home—including the bay window—along with portions of the garage and side wall received CertainTeed 8-inch vertical Board & Batten siding in White.

The remaining areas were finished with CertainTeed MainStreet 5-inch clapboard siding, also in White.

Using both vertical Board & Batten and traditional horizontal clapboard creates contrast and architectural interest while maintaining a cohesive color palette across the home.

New white mounting blocks were incorporated for exterior lights, hose bibs, dryer vents, and electrical outlets as needed.

To contrast the white siding, we wrapped the fascia and rake boards in black aluminum and installed black vented soffit at the roof overhangs, including the front porch.

Finishing the Exterior With New Gutters

Once the siding work was complete, we installed a new seamless gutter system with 5-inch aluminum gutters, hidden screw hangers, and 3x4 downspouts.

The siding carries applicable limited lifetime manufacturer coverage, while AHI provides a 10-year labor warranty on the siding and gutter installation.

The combination of crisp white CertainTeed siding, vertical Board & Batten accents, and contrasting black exterior details gives this Riva home an entirely new look.

From One Window to a Whole Exterior, Details Matter
