Why Maryland Homeowners Keep Coming Back to AHI Roofing & Remodeling

Some of our favorite projects don't start with an introduction—they start with “We'd like to have you back.”

Several of our recent projects came from homeowners we've worked with before, while another new customer came to us through a referral from a previous AHI customer. For a family-owned Maryland contractor, there isn't a better compliment than having customers trust us with their homes again or recommend us to their friends and family.

Our latest projects have taken our crews from Odenton and Severn to Middle River, Riviera Beach, and Upper Marlboro, completing everything from premium replacement windows and attic insulation to major structural roof repairs.

Odenton, MD: 12 ProVia Endure Windows From a Customer Referral

We recently headed to Odenton, Maryland, after a previous AHI customer referred a new homeowner to us for a whole-home window upgrade.

The project included removing 12 existing windows and replacing them with 12 ProVia Endure double-hung windows in white vinyl.

The homeowners chose an upgraded ComforTech TLA-HC R-9 triple-pane glass package with Low-E glass and Argon gas for improved energy performance.

These ProVia Endure windows also feature triple weather stripping, ComforTech warm-edge glazing, Innergy thermal reinforcements, NeoPor insulation within the window cavities, and double-strength glass.

Installation matters just as much as the window itself. Our crew applied spray foam around each opening to help create an airtight seal, then finished the exterior with aluminum capping and caulk for a watertight installation.

The windows are backed by a lifetime manufacturer guarantee and lifetime glass breakage warranty, while AHI provides a 10-year labor warranty on the installation.

We're grateful to the previous customer who recommended us. Referrals continue to be one of the biggest compliments our team can receive.

Burke, VA: Another Project for a Repeat AHI Customer

This Burke, Virginia homeowner has already trusted AHI with improvements to their attic, and they brought us back to help complete the next phase.

Before the insulation work, AHI had helped prepare the attic by installing quality pull-down stairs, adding an electrical outlet, reworking the lighting to a more convenient switch, and creating flooring and a protective wall around the storage area.

For the next phase, we coordinated a comprehensive attic insulation upgrade.

The existing blown and batt insulation was removed throughout the attic so the area could be properly air sealed. The new insulation system included R-60 stabilized cellulose across both the flat and cathedral ceiling areas.

Additional insulation work included R-19 EcoBatts around the cathedral ceiling knee walls, Styrovent baffles at the eaves, R-60 batt insulation around the roughly 10-by-10-foot storage platform, and an insulated ladder jacket over the pull-down attic stairs.

The homeowner left us another 5-star review:

Middle River, MD: Ultra HDZ Roofing on a Waterfront Property

Another repeat customer brought us to a beautiful waterfront property in Middle River, Maryland, where both the main house and detached garage needed new roofing.

For this project, the homeowner selected GAF Timberline Ultra HDZ shingles in Charcoal.

Ultra HDZ is a premium GAF roofing option, and these shingles carry a Class 4 impact rating. The roofing system was installed on both the home and detached garage for a consistent finished appearance across the property.

After removing the existing roofing down to the decking, our crew inspected and secured the roof deck before installing the new system.

The roofing assembly included GAF WeatherWatch ice and water protection, GAF Tiger Paw synthetic underlayment, GAF WeatherBlocker starter shingles, Timberline Ultra HDZ shingles, GAF Seal-A-Ridge hip and ridge shingles, and Snow Country ridge ventilation.

We also installed new GAF aluminum lifetime pipe collars and chimney flashing and secured loose siding on the front of the home while we were there.

One of the biggest benefits of this particular roofing project is the warranty protection.

As a GAF Master Elite roofing contractor, AHI is able to offer qualifying homeowners GAF's Golden Pledge Warranty. For this project, that means lifetime material coverage and 30-year labor coverage, with warranty protection backed by GAF.

For a waterfront home and detached garage, this was a significant exterior upgrade—and we're especially appreciative that a previous customer chose AHI again for such an important project.

Severn, MD: A Repeat Customer Replaces Windows, Sliders & the Front Door

Our next repeat customer in Severn, Maryland came back to AHI for one of the larger window and door projects we've completed recently.

Many of the home's original builder-grade windows and sliding doors were beginning to fail, so the homeowner decided it was time for a major upgrade.

The project included 17 ProVia Aspect double-hung windows, a large picture and slider window, two 6-foot ProVia Aspect sliding patio doors, and a completely new front entry door system.

The new windows feature white vinyl frames without grids for a clean appearance.

Both 6-foot patio doors include tempered glass, screens, foot locks, and locking handles.

For the front of the home, we installed a 24-gauge steel entry door with full sidelights and a transom. The interior is white, while the exterior of the door is brown to coordinate with the home's shutters. Brushed-nickel hinges and Schlage hardware complete the new entry.

The windows and doors feature ComforTech DLA-UV-HC R-7 Low-E and Argon glass, along with warm-edge glazing and Innergy thermal reinforcements.

Our crew also used spray foam around the openings for an airtight seal before completing the exterior with aluminum capping and watertight caulking.

The homeowner's 5-star review tells the repeat-customer story better than we could:

Riviera Beach, MD: Correcting Structural Roof Problems for a Repeat Customer

Our Riviera Beach, Maryland project was much more involved than simply replacing a few damaged shingles.

This repeat customer's main roof had structural issues that were affecting the shape of the roofline.

To properly address the problem, our crew removed the shingles and roof decking on the front main roof to gain access to the underlying framing.

We then installed new 2x8 roof joists to level and straighten the roof at the peak and correct existing bellies in the roofline.

Once the framing was corrected, new plywood decking was installed as needed and the roofing system could be rebuilt.

The new roof incorporates ice and water protection, ABC synthetic underlayment, TAMKO starter shingles, TAMKO Heritage architectural shingles in Black, matching hip and ridge shingles, and Lomanco ridge ventilation.

We also installed new pipe collars and chimney flashing, addressed fascia and rake trim as needed, wrapped the new trim in white aluminum, reset the gutters, and added downspout extensions where necessary.

Garage Exterior Repairs

While working at the property, AHI also addressed deterioration on the garage.

Rotted fascia, rake boards, and siding were removed. Damaged gable sheathing was replaced as needed before installing house wrap and new vinyl siding to match the home.

New primed fascia and rake boards completed the garage repairs.

This project is a good example of why diagnosing the cause of a roofing problem matters. Sometimes what appears to be a roofing issue from the outside actually requires correcting the structure underneath before a new roofing system can be properly installed.

And once again, we're grateful that an existing AHI customer trusted our team to handle it.

Upper Marlboro, MD: Targeted Roof & Pipe Collar Repairs

Not every roof needs to be replaced.

For a new customer in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, the appropriate solution was a focused roof repair.

Our crew removed the shingles surrounding two plumbing penetrations and removed the existing pipe collars. We then installed new pipe collars and replacement shingles as needed.

While on the roof, we also sealed the chimney with exterior caulk and addressed other areas requiring sealing.

Once repairs were complete, all job-related debris was cleaned up and removed from the property.

Knowing when a homeowner needs a full roof replacement—and when a targeted repair is enough—is an important part of providing the right solution for the home.
