From a large assisted living facility conversion in Fulton to roofing, siding, windows, and storm damage repairs throughout Bowie, Crofton, and Odenton, our crews have been busy!

At AHI Roofing & Remodeling, our work goes far beyond one type of project. Some jobs involve a quick but important home improvement, while others require multiple trades, extensive planning, and months of work. Here’s a look at some of the projects we’ve recently been working on across Maryland.

One of the largest projects we’ve been working on is a full assisted living facility conversion in Fulton, Maryland.

This is much more than a typical remodel. We’re making extensive changes throughout the property to create a space that is more accessible, functional, and suited for its new purpose. The project involves framing, flooring, bathrooms, plumbing, electrical work, accessibility upgrades, exterior improvements, and more.

Several areas of the property are being converted or modified to create additional bedrooms.

A dining room and living room are each being converted into bedrooms with new closets, framing, drywall, and 36-inch pocket doors. A picture window is also being incorporated into one of the newly framed areas to allow additional natural light.

Two existing bedrooms are receiving new pocket doors, recessed lighting, and electrical updates, while the master bedroom and closet area is undergoing a larger reconfiguration with new 36-inch doors, two separate closets, shelving, and LVP flooring.

Accessibility is a major part of this project.

The existing hall bathroom is being reconfigured to create a larger shower by removing the former linen closet wall. The new bathroom will feature:

• ADA-compliant elongated toilet
• ADA-compliant wall-mounted porcelain sink
• Larger tiled shower
• Custom shower pan
• Shower seat and grab bars
• Custom glass shower door
• Hardie Backer and RedGard waterproofing
• Floor-to-ceiling shower tile
• 36-inch pocket door

We're also converting an existing laundry and storage area into an entirely new full bathroom. This requires new plumbing and drainage for the shower, toilet, and sink along with another accessible shower system, grab bars, shower seat, ADA fixtures, tile, electrical work, ventilation, and finishing.

Dedicated electrical lines are also being installed for new Dreo wall-mounted bathroom heaters to meet building requirements.

The work extends well beyond the bedrooms and bathrooms.

We're installing new LVP flooring throughout the hallway, sunroom, master bedroom areas, and recreation room. The rec room is also receiving new ceiling fans, while the garage is being insulated with R-19 batt insulation and modified to create an enclosed area around the water tank.

Additional electrical work includes dedicated circuits for the fire pump, pump and tank room, along with other upgrades required for the conversion.

Outside, we're also constructing a 450-square-foot Cambridge paver patio using a 3-piece Ledgestone pattern. The patio installation includes excavation, geotextile fabric, a properly compacted aggregate base, edge restraints, drainage considerations, and the complete paver system.

This Fulton project is a great example of the larger, more complex renovations our team can handle. With so many different areas of the property being transformed at once, careful coordination between framing, plumbing, electrical, flooring, tile, exterior work, and inspections is essential.

Over in Odenton, we're upgrading a home with 12 new ProVia Endure double-hung windows.

These aren't just replacement windows—the homeowners selected an upgraded triple-pane ComforTech TLA-HC R-9 glass package designed for excellent energy performance.

The new windows feature:

• Triple-pane glass
• Low-E coatings and Argon gas
• R-9 ComforTech glass package
• Triple weather stripping
• ComforTech warm-edge glazing
• Innergy thermal reinforcements
• NeoPor insulation within the window cavities
• Double-strength glass
• Spray foam installation for an airtight seal
• Exterior aluminum capping and watertight caulking
• The windows also include a lifetime manufacturer warranty, lifetime glass breakage warranty, and our 10-year labor warranty.

It's a significant upgrade in both appearance and energy efficiency for this Odenton home.

Maryland storms can cause damage in more ways than one. For this Crofton homeowner, a tree damaged several different areas of the property.

Instead of addressing only one portion, our team completed repairs to the fence, windows, and garage roof.

Damaged fence sections were repaired with new pressure-treated pine boards and wire before being repainted to match the existing fence.

We also replaced two damaged windows with ProVia Endure double-hung windows featuring Low-E and Argon glass, the ComforTech R-7 package, NeoPor insulation, Innergy thermal reinforcements, and airtight spray foam installation.

On the garage, damaged shingles were removed and replaced with GAF architectural shingles in Charcoal.

We're also working on a completely different type of exterior project in Crofton featuring Hardie staggered-edge shake siding in Rich Espresso.

Before the new siding goes on, we're installing Tyvek house wrap and carefully taping the seams to create a protective weather barrier.

The exterior system includes:

• Hardie staggered-edge shake shingles in Rich Espresso
• Hardie 5/4 x 4 corner trim in Espresso
• Aluminum coil stock window wraps
• Z-flashing above windows and doors
• Matching fascia, frieze, and rake wrapping on the rear sunroom
• Matching vented soffit at the roof overhangs
• Thorough caulking at seams and joints
• The existing shutters, gutters, downspouts, and awnings are being carefully removed and reset as needed to complete the work.

The combination of Rich Espresso Hardie shake siding and coordinated exterior trim will give this home a dramatic new look while also adding long-term protection against the elements.

In Bowie, our team recently completed a larger exterior project that included a new roofing system, gutters, downspouts, and gutter protection.

The roof was removed down to the decking and rebuilt with a complete system featuring:

• GAF Timberline HDZ Lifetime Dimensional Shingles in Pewter Gray
• GAF ProStart Starter Shingles
• GAF Seal-A-Ridge Hip & Ridge Shingles
• ABC Synthetic Underlayment
• Ice and Water Shield at critical areas
• Snow Country Ridge Vent
• New pipe collars and chimney flashing
• The new roofing system carries a 10-year workmanship warranty and lifetime material warranty.

We also removed the existing gutters and downspouts and installed new 5-inch seamless aluminum gutters with hidden screw hangers, 3x4 downspouts, and Extreme gutter covers throughout the system.
