Recent Maryland Remodeling Projects: Roofing, Bathrooms, Windows & Siding
From a repeat customer's master bathroom remodel to a Laurel homeowner who found us simply by seeing one of our signs in his neighborhood, our crews have been busy working throughout Maryland.
At AHI Roofing & Remodeling, we handle much more than roofing. Recent projects have included bathroom remodeling, replacement windows, Hardie siding, shed roofing, rental property improvements, skylights, and interior repairs.
Here's a look at six recent projects in Laurel, Pasadena, Catonsville, and Crofton, Maryland.
Laurel, MD: Master Bathroom Tub-to-Shower Remodel for a Repeat Customer
There isn't a much better compliment than having a previous customer call us back for another project.
For this repeat customer in Laurel, Maryland, our team completed a full master bathroom renovation centered around converting the existing tub into a large tiled shower.
We removed the existing bathroom finishes, including the tile flooring, tub surround, and ceiling drywall, before rebuilding the space.
The new shower features a 5-foot Schluter shower pan, tiled curb, two built-in soap niches, a built-in shower bench, and four stainless-steel grab bars. We installed 1/2-inch HardieBacker on the walls and floors with RedGard waterproofing before installing and sealing the new tile.
The renovation also included a new 60-inch vanity, elongated toilet, lighting, mirrors, faucets, exhaust fan, GFCI outlet, switches, trim, paint, bathroom accessories, and a hinged glass shower door.
The finished bathroom is backed by our 5-year labor warranty.
And most importantly, our repeat customer was happy with the results:
“We just had our bathroom remodeled by Eric and his crew (Cesar and Edgar) - they did a great job!”
We're always grateful when a customer trusts us enough to invite our team back into their home for another project.
Laurel, MD: A New GAF Roof After Seeing Our Sign in the Neighborhood
Sometimes local advertising really is as simple as doing good work where people can see it.
This Laurel homeowner saw an AHI sign in his neighborhood, gave us a call, and ultimately chose our team for his roof replacement.
We removed the existing roofing material down to the roof deck so the underlying wood could be inspected and any loose decking secured before installing the new roofing system.
The new roof features GAF Timberline HDZ architectural shingles in Weathered Wood, along with several components designed to work together as a complete roofing system.
These included GAF ProStart starter shingles, GAF Seal-A-Ridge hip and ridge shingles, Cobra Snow Country ridge ventilation, synthetic underlayment, ice and water protection at vulnerable areas, new drip edge, and new pipe collars.
Throughout the tear-off, our crew used tarps around the home to help protect the landscaping and covered the air-conditioning equipment from falling debris. Once the roof was complete, we cleaned the gutters, hauled away the roofing debris, and performed a magnetic sweep around the property for loose nails.
The new roofing system includes a 10-year AHI workmanship warranty, along with applicable GAF manufacturer warranty coverage.
It's always great getting a call from someone who found us through a neighbor or another project we've completed nearby. Local projects often lead to local referrals—and we appreciate every one.
Pasadena, MD: Rebuilding a Shed Roof from the Trusses Up
Not every roofing project involves the main house.
For this project in Pasadena, Maryland, the existing shed roof needed more than a new layer of shingles. We removed the existing shingles and plywood all the way down to the roof trusses.
Once the old materials were removed, our crew installed new 1/2-inch OSB roof decking with plywood clips, creating a new solid surface for the roofing system.
The new shed roof includes TAMKO Heritage architectural shingles in Gray, TAMKO starter shingles, TAMKO hip and ridge shingles, synthetic underlayment, new white drip edge, and a Lomanco shingle-over ridge vent.
Once installation was finished, the gutters were cleaned, debris was removed, and the surrounding area received a magnetic sweep for loose nails.
The completed shed roof carries our 5-year workmanship warranty along with applicable TAMKO material warranty coverage.
Whether it's the roof over your home, garage, addition, or shed, what's underneath the shingles matters just as much as what you see when the project is finished.
Catonsville, MD: 11 New ProVia EcoLite Replacement Windows
In Catonsville, Maryland, we recently replaced 11 older windows with new ProVia EcoLite double-hung vinyl windows.
The homeowners selected white windows with a traditional 6-over-6 grid pattern and ProVia's ComforTech DLA-UV-HC R-5 glass package, featuring double-pane Low-E glass with Argon gas.
Beyond the glass itself, the windows include triple weather stripping, ComforTech warm-edge glazing, and Innergy thermal reinforcements rather than traditional aluminum reinforcement.
Installation is just as important as the window itself, so our crew used spray foam around the window openings to create an airtight seal before completing the exterior with aluminum capping and caulk for a watertight installation.
The windows include a 20-year manufacturer guarantee, while our installation is backed by a 10-year labor warranty.
The homeowner had received several quotes before choosing AHI and later left us a 5-star review:
“I have quoted several company to replace my old window. They gave absolute service and absolute price. While everyone else gave me quote above 15k, they were the lowest and yet the window seems to be the same.”
The homeowner also mentioned that a couple of areas needed additional attention after the initial installation—and that's an important part of the review to us:
“Once done, had couple areas need to be looked at and they came right back out to patch it.”
We stand behind our work. If something needs our attention after a project, we want the opportunity to make it right.
Crofton, MD: Hardie Siding Transformation on a Rental Property
Our team also completed a Hardie siding project in Crofton, Maryland, at a rental property.
Rental properties can require additional communication because the property owner and the person living in the home aren't always the same person. For this project, we coordinated with the owner and tenant throughout the process to complete the exterior work while respecting that the property was someone's home.
The exterior transformation features Hardie staggered-edge shake siding in Rich Espresso paired with matching Espresso Hardie corner trim.
Before installing the new siding, our crew installed Tyvek house wrap and taped the seams to create a protective weather barrier.
We also incorporated Z-flashing above the window and door trim, aluminum coil-stock window wraps, and careful caulking of seams and joints to help create a watertight exterior.
The rear sunroom received matching fascia, frieze, and rake wrapping, along with a vented soffit system at the roof overhangs.
Existing shutters, gutters, downspouts, and awnings were carefully removed as needed and reset once the siding work was complete.
The combination of Rich Espresso Hardie shake siding and coordinated exterior details created a completely different look for this Crofton rental property while improving the exterior protection of the home.
Laurel, MD: Rental Property Roof Replacement, Skylight & Interior Repairs
Our final featured project takes us back to Laurel, Maryland, this time for a rental property.
For this project, AHI worked alongside the property owner and property management company while coordinating access with the tenant. When multiple parties are involved in a renovation, clear scheduling and communication become an important part of getting the actual construction work completed.
The exterior portion of the project involved removing the existing roof down to the decking and installing a new TAMKO Heritage architectural roofing system in Black.
After inspecting and securing the roof decking, our crew installed ice and water protection at vulnerable areas, synthetic underlayment, TAMKO starter shingles, architectural shingles, matching hip and ridge shingles, new drip edge, and Lomanco ridge ventilation.
We also installed new pipe collars and chimney flashing and refinished the furnace flues in black to coordinate with the finished roof.
One of the bigger additions was replacing an existing skylight with a new Sun-Tek deck-mounted skylight, incorporating the new unit directly into the roofing project.
The work didn't stop outside.
Inside the rental property, our crew repaired two damaged drywall areas in the master bedroom. We protected the floors and furniture, repaired and finished the drywall, and repainted the entire ceiling and rear wall with two coats of paint.
The roof is backed by our 5-year workmanship warranty along with applicable TAMKO material warranty coverage.
For landlords and property managers, having one contractor who can address both exterior and interior work can make coordinating property improvements much easier.
